2. Provision of the website, cookies, and web analytics
2.1. Description and scope of data processing
When you access our website, i.e., even if you do not register or otherwise provide information, general information is automatically collected. This information (server log files) includes, for example, the type of web browser, the operating system used, the domain name of your Internet service provider, your IP address, referrer URL, date, and time of access, and similar data.
They are processed for the following purposes:
- Ensuring a smooth connection to the website,
- Ensuring smooth use of our website,
- Ensuring and assessing system security and stability, particularly for misuse detection, and
- Technical error-free presentation and optimization of our website.
The data is also stored in the log files of our system. This data is not stored together with other personal data of the user. We do not use your data to draw conclusions about you personally. However, we reserve the right to subsequently check the server log files if there are concrete indications of illegal use.
This website does not use cookies or any comparable client-side storage for tracking or profiling purposes.
To understand how visitors use our website, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first analytics service provided by Cloudflare, Inc. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies or any other client-side state, and it does not track individual visitors across sessions or websites ("fingerprinting"). It only collects aggregated data such as page views, referrer, approximate geographic region, browser and operating system type, and page performance metrics (e.g. load times, Core Web Vitals). Because no cookies or persistent identifiers are used, this processing does not require your prior consent.
A small, strictly necessary session cookie may be set when you use the Cloudflare Turnstile challenge to reveal our email address on this website. This cookie is required to complete the anti-spam check you requested and is not used for tracking or advertising.
This website also stores a single technical entry in your browser's local storage (localStorage) once you close the language suggestion banner or switch language. This entry exists solely to avoid showing you the banner again on a later visit. It contains no personal data, is not used for tracking or profiling, and is not shared with any third party.
2.2. Recipients of the data
For the operation, hosting, and security of our website, we use Cloudflare, Inc., which acts as our data processor, namely for the content delivery network, server log files, Web Analytics, and Turnstile, under Cloudflare's standard Data Processing Addendum. This addendum is automatically incorporated into Cloudflare's Self-Serve Subscription Agreement, which we accepted by creating our Cloudflare account, and it includes contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
2.3. Transfer to foreign countries
Data processing also takes place outside of Switzerland, namely in the United States of America.
Cloudflare, Inc. is certified under the Swiss-U.S. and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which Switzerland and the EU recognize as providing an adequate level of data protection for transfers to certified U.S. companies. Should this certification ever lapse, Cloudflare's Data Processing Addendum automatically applies the appropriate Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as a fallback.
3. Rights of the data subject
You have the following rights concerning personal data that relates to you:
- The right to know what personal data we hold about you and how we process it;
- The right to receive a copy of your personal data in a common format;
- The right to correct your personal data;
- The right to delete your personal data;
- The right to object to the processing of your personal data.
Please note that there are exceptions to these rights. Where legally permissible, we may deny your request to exercise these rights.
You may revoke your consent to the processing of personal data at any time. Please note that revocation is effective only for the future. Processing that occurred before the revocation is not affected.
To request information about the personal data we process, please send your request through any of the channels shown in the Contact section. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
